Do Silicone Patches Really Work?

LOURE LESSONS: Silicone Patches for wrinkles

I have had quite a few patients ask my opinion on silicone wrinkle patches.

Silicone is a rather benign substance that will not cause much skin reaction and has properties that promote collagen production when worn daily, best is overnight. That being said, the real mechanism by which these patches would work for wrinkles is by sealing hydration in the skin under the patch which can plump the skin and soften the look of wrinkles.

The patches are reusable up to 15 times which is nice, but as I explain to my patients, the results are for a limited time which is why they should be worn nightly. They can improve skin hydration and give slight improvement in wrinkles but not nearly to the degree of injectable wrinkle relaxers, which last 3-4 months.

The patches might be good immediately before a special event but expect the improvement to lessen throughout the day.

On Amazon, the patches will cost you more which is actually pretty comparable to injectable neurotoxin.

Moral of the story… if you want a quick, temporary reduction in your wrinkles for a special event, try the silicone patches. If you don’t want to do something nightly and have deeper, more lasting results, we still recommend neurotoxins!
